Milestone in EEG sleep study

Another great milestone in our landmark EEG sleep study “Sleep in the ultra long-term perspective: Seasonally and behaviourally induced variation” has been reached this week.

20 healthy subjects have now had our UNEEG SubQ implanted for 12 months to collect ultra long-term EEG data during sleep. Over the past two years, each of the 20 trial participants have had 19 visits with the researchers of which 14 visits have been in the participant’s home environment. In addition to EEG data collection and visits with the researchers, the participants have also done daily sleep diaries and cognitive tests to help bring the researchers a step closer in determining factors of sleep quality.

Beginning of July when the last trial participant has had the final physical visit with the researchers, two years of data collection is officially complete, and the research team is ready to take a deep dive into the massive amount of data generated about sleep.

This exciting study is the same study that was nominated for Best Danish Clinical Study 2022 earlier this month – in part because of the unique study design where the trial participants have collected most of the EEG data in their home environment. It has been done in a research collaboration between UNEEG medical, Zealand University Hospital EP Group, T&W Engineering A/S, and Cambridge Cognition.
